Three west flowing rivers pass through the terrain viz. the Kolak river running along the northern boundary’ the Kalu river forming the southern boundary and the Damanganga river lying in between.

Daman district is a Union Territory with administrative headquarter at Daman. The head is the Administrator common for Daman, Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.Daman has 21 Villages , 8 Panchayats and a municipality constituency is common to Daman and Diu.

Accessibility:
The nearest airport is Mumbai (190 km). Commercial flights from Daman Airport (maintained by coast guard) for time being are not operational. Vapi (12km) the closest railhead is on the Mumbai-Vadodara-New Delhi line and most of superfast, express and Shatapdi trains stop here.

Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway No. 8(NH8) connects Daman via Vapi by road. With the four lining of this section, the drive on this newly laid four-landed highway is fast and comfortable with very good road side amenities. Mumbai (190km) is just 3 hours drive, Surat(120km) is now about 2 hours drive.

Infrastructure:
Good infrastructural facilities like good roads, uninterrupted power supply, banking, medical and adequate water facilities. Daman offers a choice of about 60 hotels (approx. 5050 beds) and guest houses to cater to the needs of leisure and business travellers alike. The surfaced road length in Daman is 191 km.
